01 aBOUT ME

WHO AM I?
headshot website.png

NWMSU alum with a B.S. in IDM: New Media. Social Media Specialist at HDR. I should probably be a stakeholder in Taco Bell for all the spicy potato soft tacos I have consumed.

If you didn't notice the giant text above the fold, I'm Whitney Henry, a social media devotee with a love for connecting with the customer and finding out what drives the most engagement. I dabble in design, copywriting, and other skills, but I'm most devoted to managing campaigns and working at the ground level to make sure the connection between consumer and social media personality is real, in-depth, and above all, not over-saturated with gimmicks.

03 Experience

APRIL 2021 - PRESENT

HDR

Social Media Specialist

As a social media project assistant, I develop and schedule evergreen/campaign content for clients across multiple industries (water, power, transportation, etc.). I also conduct daily community management/monitoring and aggregate any mentions of projects/clients across all forms of digital media. When needed, I generate training content and informational documents on internal social media services.

MAY 2020 - MARCH 2021

STATE SAVINGS BANK (IA)

New Media Intern

As New Media Intern for State Savings Bank, I helped build the bank's social media presence from the ground up - this involved creating channels, writing social media policies, and assessing potential risks for risk mitigation documents. I maintained the channels from day to day and aided in a website redmodel by designing a mockup for their new site, which is live at statesavings.bank!

JUNE 2020 - SEPT 2020

THE PITCH KC

Marketing Intern

At The Pitch (KC), I worked with social media insights to provide weekly reports on engagement, campaign performance, and top posts. I also gained experience in working with Hootsuite, Mailchimp, and Creator Studio, and expanded on my copywriting experience by coordinating email/social campaigns for various events!

MAY 2018 - MAY 2020

NORTHWEST ALTERNATIVE SPRING BREAK

Public Relations/Social Media Chair

I was elected as PR/Social Media Chair for Northwest ASB and took over all social channels from the previous chairperson. As a result, I learned how to use various editing programs and was in charge of all advertising, marketing, and social media aspects of ASB. I worked with potential service sites to coordinate publicity, and managed all media content that went through our organization!

APRIL 2016 - OCT 2019

FROSTY TRETE

Social Media Manager/Content Designer

I took over as the primary Frosty Trete social media manager - although a co-manager of the Facebook, I single-handedly maintained both the Twitter and Instagram facets of the company. I also helped design merchandise.
